Tennessee Sampler Survey Traveling Exhibit

Sampler enthusiasts traveling to or through Tennessee this summer will have an opportunity to see a new exhibit by the Tennessee Sampler Survey at The Tennessee State Library and Archives’ (TSLA) in Nashville.  The show includes life size photographic representations of 20 different samplers. The exhibit will open Monday, August 1, 2011.

The exhibit will later travel to the Heritage Center of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County and the Arts Center of Cannon County (Woodbury).  Future locations will be announced later.

Funding for the exhibit was provided by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission as well as funding from CBRL Group and LifeWorks Foundation.  Loudoun Sampler Guild members may recall that the LSG awarded a grant to the Tennessee Sampler Survey two years ago.

The Tennessee Sampler Survey’s website is http://www.tennesseesamplers.com/ and includes digital images of 215 samplers.  Their blog is found at http://tennesseesamplers.blogspot.com.

The Loudoun Sampler Guild is a group of sampler enthusiasts based in northern Virginia. We meet monthly for lectures, needlework classes and workshops, and field trips.
