Needlework at Large: Bernard Maisner by Julia B.

From the latest issue of Vogue magazine, is a mention of a collaboration between Bernard Maisner, “the calligrapher to the social set,” and Julia Berger, “fine-linen couturier.”  The latter is quoted, “It is our embroiders who set us apart – they are artists who can literally paint on fabric with thread.”  The stitchers are in Madagascar.

The elephant dinner napkin shown here, from one of Maisner’s favorite motifs, sells for $250. (that’s per napkin)
