Sotheby’s Folk Art Sale: Online Catalog Now Available

American folk art from the Ralph O. Esmerian collection will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York on January 25, 2014. An exhibition will run from Saturday, January 18 through Friday, January 24. The sale catalog has been posted online, and can be found here:

The catalog permits the online visitor to browse hundreds of lots from American folk art categories including paintings, watercolors, pottery, needlework, carvings and weathervanes, from the early 18th century to 20th century, from New England to Pennsylvania, the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and beyond. If you would rather skip to the eight principal needlework pieces, you may click on “Advanced Search” and in the “Object/Type” box, select “Folk Art Textile.”

The Loudoun Sampler Guild is a group of sampler enthusiasts based in northern Virginia. We meet monthly for lectures, needlework classes and workshops, and field trips.
