51st Annual Needlework Exhibition at Woodlawn


The nation’s foremost show of contemporary needlework returns to Historic Woodlawn in Alexandria, Virginia for the month of March.  The exhibit honors Eleanor “Nelly” Custis Lewis’s legacy by displaying her needlework as well as inviting the public to display theirs. Visitors will see hundreds of needlework entries on display in every room of the historic mansion among the museum collections.

Exhibition Hours: March 1 – March 31, 2014. Open Wednesdays – Mondays, 10 am – 4 pm. Closed Tuesdays.

Location: Historic Woodlawn, located at 9000 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA 22309.

Daily Admission Fees: $10 Adults; $5 Children (K-12). Children 5 & under are free. Exhibitors receive one free pass. Friends of Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House are admitted free.

Dining in the Underwood Room: Lunch and desserts are served from 11:30 am – 2 pm during the show. The freshly prepared food is created, prepared and served by members of Nelly’s Needlers and other volunteers. Luncheon bills and all gratuities support the site. The Underwood Room accommodates up to 44 diners. Individuals and small parties will be seated as space becomes available. Advance reservations are required for parties of 9 or more.
